Exmormon people say that the church just wants money from people, which doesn’t make sense because no one is profiting money from tithing brought in and the church doesn’t accept tithing from exmormon people who have been excommunicated. If greed were the church’s motive, wouldn’t they accept all people’s tithing? Tithing is meant to be a matter of faith and a spiritual blessing. Furthermore, a lot of the money brought in is used to help people monetarily or with goods. I have seen this for myself. Our bishop said he would rather pay our bills for us than have us go without paying our tithing.
