My best friend and I were inseparable for sixteen years, and then her father got a new job and they moved out of the country. The first year she left we wrote to each other almost every day. I would have called her, but my mother would have killed me if I ran up her telephone bill. As time went on, we still wrote to each other but it was a lot less than we did. After I graduated from high school, I decided to use the international reverse phone directory to find her number. I pay my own bills now, so I did not have anyone telling me not to call.
