It was a normal Midwestern afternoon when all of a sudden the sky turned an ugly black. The thunderstorms didn’t seem that bad at first, but after the rain was over, my husband and discovered puddle after puddle of water in our basement. Our sump pump had failed. It was definitely not something that we ever wanted to experience again, so we called a contractor to see about getting the basement waterproofed. The contractor’s estimate was insane. My husband suggested that we try doing it ourselves. We found tons of great diy basement waterproofing information online, we got the job completed, and now we’ll never be soaked again!
