A very long time ago, someone told me that if you find an unknown phone number somewhere, and you want to find out who it belongs to, you can call the library and ask them to look it up in what is called the criss cross. These days, with the internet and all its resources, anyone can do this from their own computer. Now it is known as the reverse lookup. Some sites make you pay for this service, but you can find a free reverse phone lookup online too. This is the kind of thing that makes everyone feel a little bit like a private detective!
