Unhappy with my city life, it’s time to recharge my batteries. I’m currently locked down in day job, career burn-out, long hours, a failing economy and dwindling time from my family aided in the decision to embark on this journey with. We opted to travel the world on a cruise. My perseverance paved way in realizing my childhood dream of taking a cruise.  Years ago, it seemed like a wish upon a falling star.  But at long last, I was able to take a cruise on the Royal Caribbean from Fort Lauderdale.  When we set sailing, the rain poured heavily.  I went to the observatory lounge to watch the ocean.  From where I stood, I saw  just a few people taking a swim in the pool.  Understandably, others refrained from taking a dip because it was way too cold.  Hours passed, the sky begun to clear.  I went to the bar near the pool deck and ordered some refreshments.  I met someone there who became close to me.  Together, we watched live shows, drunk at the bar and took the dance floor until we could hardly raised our tired feet.  I had all the fun during the entire voyage.  The on board experience was awesome.  So, try cruising.  You will surely love it!

I felt being exploited.  Why?  Rather than be rewarded for a job well done, on the contrary, the company took out some of the benefits I used to enjoy!  Such act was not fair for I found out that the newcomers were given what was taken from me.  However, there was nothing I could do about it since I was just a mere temporary employee, hence unprotected by our labor laws.  No longer able to hold my resentment, I tendered my resignation.  Somehow the bitterness over my predicament was not too overwhelming.  Indeed there was truth in the saying that “after the rain, rainbow comes after.”  Knowing what I went through, my brother who just retired from a prestigious bank took me on a Cruise from San Diego to Alaska.  Since my brother used to be a band member, we usually hanged out at the music lounge.  While there, we usually had some bottles of beer.  We enjoyed listening to the angelic voice of the pretty vocalist rendering her own interpretation of the 80’s most popular love songs.  Sometimes we loitered at the poll deck, watching beautiful women in their skimpy bikinis, taking a swim at the Olympic-sized pool.  At times, we sat at our cabin’s balcony and watched the breathtaking view of the ocean.  I really had a great time while on board the ship.  The happy memories I got from the trip will definitely be cherished.  I loved it!  This cruise is highly recommended for those feeling bitter!

When my husband came home that night, I told him what I had done. I let him know that I had booked us a room at one of the incredible los angeles hotels for two whole weeks that summer. He sat there in stunned silence. He asked to see the hotel I had chosen. I brought it up on the computer quickly and showed him some pictures. He told me that it looked amazing. I told him we would have a fabulous time.
