Bad Day At Country Club

Friday, November 6th, 2009

I have a horrible day today. And the bad thing about it is that it had nothing to do with work. Most of my bad days are mostly work related, but today, it was due to something entirely different. You see, I and a friend went to one of the country clubs we are a part of in order to play a round of golf. While leaving the country club after playing golf, I finally remembered that I forgot to pick up my single golf clubs from the locker room of the country club. To make a long story short, someone came in and stole the golf clubs.

Saltwater flyfishing

Sunday, November 1st, 2009

Saltwater fly fishing is done with heavier tackle and typically uses wet flies resembling baitfish. However, saltwater fish can also be caught with “poppers,” a surface lure similar to those used for freshwater bass fishing, though much larger. Saltwater species sought and caught with fly tackle include: bonefish, tuna, dorado (mahi-mahi), sailfish, tarpon, striped bass, salmon and marlin. Offshore saltwater species are usually attracted to the fly by “chumming” with small baitfish, or “teasing” the fish to the boat by trolling a large hookless lure. Many saltwater species, particularly large, fast and powerful fish, are not easily slowed down by “palming” the hand on the reel. Instead, a purpose-made saltwater reel for these species must have a powerful drag system. Furthermore, saltwater reels purpose-made for larger fish must be larger, heavier, and corrosion-resistant – a typical high-quality saltwater reel costs 500.00 USD or more. Corrosion-resistant equipment is key to durability in all types of saltwater fishing, regardless of the size and power of the target species.

Paring Down

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

As I get older, I am trying to do a better job of “mainstreaming” the amount of stuff I possess and/or hold on to.  I have recently been going through different personal items and records in order to throw out the things I do not need.  Additionally, am downsizing my “toys” that I have accumulated over the years.  The boat, my extra golf equipment, and my archery items I no longer use are some of the first things that are going to go.  I just don’t have the time for all of the pursuits anymore and am also getting rid of excess with things I still will currently pursue.

I’m a list kind of person, I like to make lists because I get a sense of accomplishment when I’m able to cross something off of it, but I also feel better organized as well. The same holds true when it comes to my climbing gear as well, I always make up a checklist so that I don’t forget anything important. Depending on where I’m going, my checklist will be different. For example, if I’m going bouldering I won’t need much just my rock shoes, a chalk bag, chalk and a crash pad. My list for top-roping, on the other hand, would contain a lot more.

Getting Started Was a Breeze

Monday, October 12th, 2009

My husband decided to take up boxing for exercise. I decided to get him some equipment to really get him started. I figured he needed a good pair of real boxing gloves. If he wanted to seriously get into shape then he needed a serious pair of gloves. I went to Zoout.com and found the gloves and a punching bag for him to keep in the garage. I really liked the site because it had many brand names. He was very pleased that I had gotten him the things he needed to get started and I was very happy to see him enjoying them and feeling like a better, stronger man.

Steps for Catching Lobster

Monday, October 12th, 2009

I had no idea that learning how to catch a lobster could be so tricky. I also had no idea that the lobster themselves could be so smart. Well, smart that is if they have a leader that can take them to safety. Once you maneuver their leader out of its position and in your fishing tackle, then you can easily pluck the rest one by one back into your own pit of oxygenated sea water. A great trick and one of the basics on How to Catch a Florida Lobster is do it as a team to see the maximum results for your fishing day.
