A customer service associate position may be available with a call center, service center, customer support center, or helpline/customer service department of a company. A customer service associate is responsible for handling inbound calls from customers and solving their problems. Specific duties for a customer service associate role include receiving calls from existing customers, understanding their problems or service requests, interpreting the available details, forwarding requests or complains to the concerned people, keeping record of account details, making follow up calls, and performing other tasks assigned by the customer service manager. A customer service associate typically reports to a customer service manager. A customer service associate should have an associate’s degree or a high school diploma. Prior experience gained from a customer service associate position may be beneficial. Excellent customer service skills are very important for a customer service associate role.
