The company I worked for decided to sell off some of its small van fleet this year. I think the main reason was that sales were down on last year and most of the vans had been sitting around idle for about six months. The cost of depreciation and motor insurance meant that it was not viable to have so many vans in the fleet. It was my job to get the best price for them so I rang up a number of dealers to see if they offered any buy back schemes. If that failed I planned to take them to auction and see what I could get for them there. Luckily however a dealer just out of town offered me a deal that my boss liked so I sold them and the job was done. I am just hoping now that they have reduced the number of vans they don’t start reducing the number of staff.
